APPARATUS COLLISION TWO-DIMENSIONAL

Allows students to experience the conservation of momentum and kinetic energy by investigating the difference between elastic, inelastic, and partially elastic collisions. Consists of a curved track with a base permanently mounted at one end which supports a ball at the proper height for a centre to centre collision with a second ball rolling down the track. Track is level so the collision occurs only in the horizontal plane, simplifying calculations. A pin and three holes are provided in the track so that the drop height of the ball is consistent.
